Gladwell’s work with the “blink mind” pointed the way to a paradigm shift in how we think—and thus how we see ourselves. The discovery of the deeper intelligence (DI) and the “blink language” in which it communicates exponentially increases the paradigm shift. Truly, having broken through to the “other 90%” of the mind, we now have conceptually 90% more knowledge. We have explored the deepest regions of the mind in a profound new way, going far deeper than ever before.

Major paradigm shifts in knowledge effect many different fields—the greater the breakthrough the more application across the board.

Summary of fields the DI has already affected:

  • Psychology (psychotherapy and business psychology)
  • Forensic profiling (perpetrators have a “blink mind” which desperately needs to confess)
  • Theology
  • Parenting and marriage

Anticipated influence of DI

  • Human Achievement (accomplishing goals)
  • New understanding of success reluctance or success phobia (see below)

History

Major progress in understanding human motivation and communication will give us a new look at history. Additionally, we can examine communication from historical figures for “blink” communication.

Philosophy/Academia

The most fundamental question in philosophy has to do with knowledge about ourselves: what is man really like deep down? Is his mind a blank slate or do distinct dynamic principles (laws of human nature) exist within our unconscious? In American terms are there truly certain “inalienable rights?” The official question in a nutshell: Does “natural law” exist?  If the DI answers that question—and it does in spades—then we have taken a quantum leap forward in understanding ourselves. The answer: universal norms exist in the unconscious mind across all cultures. “Natural Law” lives.

Perhaps we can best see the paradigm shift such new knowledge will bring about this comment by the late Harvard paleontologist Stephen Jay Gould: “There is no ‘natural law’ waiting to be discovered ‘out there.’"1 Gould was perhaps the most prominent scientific spokesman in the media at the time of his death. Now, if the deeper intelligence has proven him wrong, we have much to learn about natural law—where it comes into play and how.

(Certainly, uncovering “natural law” will be extremely unpopular answer in certain quarters, particularly in a world that likes to do as it pleases without definitive boundaries of human behavior.)

Science

The deeper intelligence has an inbuilt method of self-validation. This means it will lead the way to establishing psychology (and psychotherapy) as a definitive science. Preliminary research has already shown this.

Additionally, since the “blink mind” shows that scientifically provable laws of human nature—universal norms—exist, it will have a major impact on the evolution vs. intelligent design discussion. Discovering a distinctly verifiable design in the human mind—the most intelligent part of nature—speaks volumes.

Profiling

Now we can observe self-profiles from journalists, social commentators, and scientists, all of whom can and do reveal their deeper intelligence which often shines new light on their opinions. Their “blink mind” routinely contradicts opinions strongly held in their surface mind.
